Michael A Barrot works at Bratschi and heads the tax practice group with 10 fee-earners, making it one of the largest groups of this kind in Switzerland. The department provides tax advice on transactional, corporate, capital markets and financing matters as well as on private client taxation. It also represents clients before tax authorities and in court. Michael A Barrot is based in the Zurich office and has been a partner since 2014.
He specialises in domestic and international tax and advises in particular Swiss and international companies on relocations, corporate reorganisations, real estate and capital market trans-actions, and employee participation programmes. Other areas of expertise include tax planning for Swiss and foreign private clients (relocation and estate planning) and domestic tax litigation, in particular with respect to requests from foreign tax authorities regarding assistance in administrative tax matters.
Michael A Barrot graduated from the University of Bern in 2002 (lic iur) and was admitted to the Zurich Bar in 2005. In 2007 he received his Master of Laws (LLM) degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and became a certified tax expert in 2010. Before joining Bratschi as a tax partner in 2014, he spent 10 years at a top-tier law firm.
Michael A Barrot is a member of the Zurich Bar Association (ZAV), the Swiss Bar Association (SAV), the Swiss Institute of Certified Accountants and Tax Consultants, the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and the International Bar Association (IBA).
