Mehmet Karakoc is a managing director at FTI Consulting and is based in London. He launched his career at one of the top 50 international contractors where he worked as a planner, contracts manager and subsequently claims manager prior to joining FTI Consulting.
Mr Karakoc has over 14 years of experience in the engineering industry managing projects and has been advising contractors, vendors and employers on issues associated with contract administration, risk analysis, programme management, claim preparation and delay, cost and disruption analyses. He has been actively involved at different stages of construction, information technology (IT), infrastructure, power, transportation, defence and security and energy matters including various multi-billion dollar projects. His practice is a combination of UK and internationally based work, including projects in Russia, Germany, UAE, Turkey, Egypt, Trinidad, the Netherlands, Finland, Ukraine, Iraq, Ghana, Seychelles, Kazakhstan, Algeria, Libya, India, Turkmenistan, South Korea, Oman and Tunisia.
Mr Karakoc has been designated as a testifying delay and quantum expert on a number of complex engineering disputes including international arbitration, for both claimant and respondent, working with major firms of solicitors. In addition to his capacity to act as an expert, he has reviewed and evaluated extension of time and money claims on high-profile projects, has drafted articles on engineering disputes and has delivered training courses and seminars regarding delay analysis and disputes.
Mr Karakoc holds an MSc in construction law and arbitration from Kings College, London and a BSc in civil engineering. Mr Karakoc is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Academy of Experts and the Society for Computers and Law.
