Masaakira Kitazawa is a highly regarded banking lawyer with a broad finance practice and experience advising major international banks and financial institutions.
Masaakira Kitazawa is a partner at Anderson Mori & Tomotsune, and specialises in the banking, securities and commercial fields for foreign and domestic clients. His practice includes financial regulatory matters, corporate governance and compliance, and transactional matters, including: M&A transactions for domestic and foreign companies; private equity investment and securitisation matters; IPOs and public offerings; and listings on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. His projects and transactions have included acting as the chief legal adviser to a temporarily nationalised Japanese bank, which was subsequently privatised. He provides ongoing advice to the subsequent entity relating to all aspects of its business, including government relations, banking, commercial transactions, acquisitions as well as general advice to the management.
He has also advised a prestigious UK investment bank after it failed following unauthorised Asian future transactions. The work involved intense negotiations with Japan's financial authorities, stock exchange, and courts.
Additionally, he has advised a major UK based venture capital and private equity entity in connection with its establishment and subsequent investment activities.
