Martín Litwak earns recommendations thanks to his excellent financial planning experience and problem-solving skills.

Biography

Martin Litwak is a lawyer specialised in wealth structuring and investment funds.

He is the founder of Untitled, a boutique law firm and the first legal family office of the Americas. Martin currently serves as the CEO of the company.

He obtained his law degree, cum laude, at the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 1998 and his master’s degree in finance from the University of CEMA (Argentina) in 2000. Later, he qualified as a solicitor in both England and Wales, and the British Virgin Islands.

Throughout his long professional career – during which he lived and worked in Argentina, the British Virgin Islands, Uruguay and finally the United States – Martin Litwak has mainly concentrated on providing advice to high-net-worth (HNW), ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) and institutional families domiciled in Latin America, in connection with the setting-up and/or management of fiduciary structures, as well as resolving succession issues and/or ensuring that the family assets are well protected.

He has also assisted several Latin American based fund managers with the establishment and licensing of hundreds of investment funds, most of them in the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands.

Finally, he has been very active in multi-jurisdictional mergers and acquisitions, international financial transactions of several types (eg, private equity/venture capital deals, project financing, structured finance, IPOs, etc), tax amnesties and the provision of advice in transactions involving crypto-assets and blockchain (ICOs, STOs, etc).

Martin Litwak is a regular speaker in international conferences and seminars organised by prestigious institutions (eg, STEP Latin America, STEP Caribbean, STEP Barbados, the Inter-American Bar Association, the Florida Bankers Association, Legal Week, the Hedge Fund Association, Terrapin, etc).

He has also spoken at private events organised by well-known companies within the financial services industry (eg, Aiva, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, HSBC, EFG, Credit Andorra, Citywire, etc) and has also taught classes as a visiting professor at the University of Buenos Aires, the University of CEMA and the University of Miami.

During his professional career, Martin Litwak has been recognised by important publications: Who’s Who Legal, Chambers & Partners, Legal Week, The Legal 500, Euromoney and IFLR1000.

In 2019 alone, he was highlighted by WWL for private funds, private client and M&A; and by IFLR1000 for banking, capital markets, investment funds, and M&A. He was also included – for the third consecutive year – in Legal Week’s “Private Client Global Elite” list.

He is the author and co-author of several articles published in legal publications and journals in Latin America, the UK and the US. In 2018 he published his first book “How the Wealthiest People Protect their Assets and Why We Should Imitate Them”. The book is a demythologisation of so-called offshore jurisdictions, also known as “tax havens”, and, at the same time, a practical guide to the options for efficient wealth structuring. He is currently working on a second book, on international taxation.

In 2020, he published his second book, “Tax havens and tax hells: an alternative look at offshore jurisdictions and tax competition”, about taxing issues and international taxation matters.
In this book he covers topics such as tax competition among countries, the use of offshore jurisdictions, and the permanent tension existing between individuals and governments regarding tax issues.
