In 1999, he was as a foreign associate with the law firm Morgan Lewis' New York office. Since 2007, Mark Reutter has taught at University of Fribourg law school where he was an associate lecturer for IT and telecommunications law.

He has been a member of the expert group on e-health of the Swiss Federal Council, president of the UIA commission for IT and telecommunications law and currently serves as president of the Kunsthalle Zurich.
