Mario Lozano is a well-established name in the competition market who enjoys an enviable reputation for his work on corporate competition work.
Mario joined Arias in 2010 as part of the corporate department; he has provided advice to the most important financial institutions operating in El Salvador, including on complex sales and the acquisition of assets. He has also participated in highly complex corporate restructurings for several multinational companies in regulated and non-regulated sectors; and in the implementation of economic and corporate structures of prestigious business groups.
He has been involved in the pensions sector through sales processes, as well as in the insurance sector through the incorporation of broker and reinsurance companies, advising in the process of obtaining regulatory authorisations and at the beginning of their operations.
Mario has been active in mergers and acquisitions, analysing regulatory aspects of competition concerning the analysis and approval of economic concentrations, due diligence and closing of transactions within different sectors, such as telecommunications, banking, pensions, real estate and franchise, among others. He has advised on matters of international financing and syndicated loans; issuance of guarantees by means of securitisations; sale of credit portfolios; dissolution and liquidation of companies; and financial derivatives, among other issues.
He holds a degree in law from José Matías Delgado University, and is authorised as a practising attorney and notary public by the Supreme Court of El Salvador. He obtained his master’s degree in business law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, ranked as one of the best law faculties in the world.
