Maria Teresa Mendoza co-heads the Labor Law practice of Morgan & Morgan. Ms. Mendoza has extensive experience in labor and employment matters, including compensation and benefits, compliance, and social security regulations.
Her client portfolio includes companies from several sectors such as energy, insurance, banking, automotive, real estate, construction, education, logistics, media and communications, mining, engineering, manufacturing, agribusiness, hospitality, headhunting, among others.
Prior to joining Morgan & Morgan, Ms. Mendoza was Ms. Mendoza has been a partner in two firms specializing in labor and employment law.
Ms. Mendoza holds a LL.B., Political Sciences, from Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua in Panama; and obtained a Specialization in Labor Law and Business Law from Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua and Universidad de Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia, respectively.
She is a member of the Employment Law Alliance (ELA) and regularly participates as speaker at seminars and conferences related to labor law and regulations. Mrs. Mendoza is also member of the Panamanian National Minimum Wage Commission and the Dialogue Commission for the National Social Security, on behalf of the National Private Business Council (CONEP).
Ms. Mendoza has also advised CONEP and the Ministry of Labor on several bills, including the one regulating remote work and the one creating incentives for workers through food vouchers.
In pro bono matters, Ms. Mendoza frequently assists international organizations and NGO´s in providing labor law advice.
