Maria Claudia Procopiak is an internationally recognised arbitration expert, who sits as arbitrator in a wide variety of international arbitration matters under all major institutional and ad hoc arbitral rules.
Maria Claudia started her career at the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris, where she served as Deputy Counsel of the Latin American/Iberian Peninsula team. In 2010, Maria Claudia joined the international arbitration group of Dechert LLP, where she worked for 10 years in Paris and London. She has represented clients in both commercial and investment arbitration cases across several sectors, including oil and gas, power, mining, construction and telecoms, as well as in corporate, infrastructure and commercial contracts.
In January 2020, Maria Claudia founded Procopiak Arbitration, to focus on her work as arbitrator.
Maria Claudia is a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration, and a member and the Secretary of the Latin American and Iberian Chapter of the ICC Institute of World Business Law. She is also a member of the ICC Latin American Arbitration Group and the ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF), having served as the ICC YAF representative for the United Kingdom and Portugal from 2017 to 2019. Maria also holds memberships of the Brazilian Arbitration Committee (CBAr), the Asociación Latinoamericana de Arbitraje (ALARB), and the LCIA Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG).
Maria Claudia features in the list of arbitrators of the London Chamber of Arbitration and Mediation, the Center for Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada and the recently created Court of Arbitration for Art.
Maria Claudia is fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish and French.
