Marc is a partner in the firm’s intellectual property practice. He heads the life sciences group in the Netherlands, and is based in The Hague.
With more than 20 years of experience, Marc specialises in patents and other intellectual property rights. He has in-depth knowledge of cross-border European patent litigation, particularly in the pharma and biotech industries. In pharma, Marc has litigated many patent cases concerning blockbuster drugs.
His practice also includes advising clients on their strategic preparations for the Unitary Patent Package (Unitary Patent and Unified Patent Court), and on complex multidisciplinary (IP-related) deals and disputes involving cutting-edge technologies. His client portfolio ranges from global pharmaceutical and chemical companies to universities and start-ups.
Apart from litigating before Dutch courts, he has also represented clients before the European Court of Justice.Marc was admitted to the bar in 1996, and joined the firm in 2007. He is a member of several professional organisations, such as the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). Furthermore, he is a member of the Expert Group IP of HollandBIO, the Dutch association for the biotech industry.
