Maikel van Wissen is resident partner of De Brauw’s Brussels office and a member of De Brauw’s integrated Amsterdam/Brussels competition practice. He specialises in competition law, advising clients on complex national, European and global matters. His practice spans many industries and sectors, including financial services, FinTech, media, telecom, food services and healthcare.
Maikel frequently represents clients in merger control reviews before the European Commission, the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets as well as regulatory authorities worldwide. He has significant experience handling antitrust investigations by national and international competition authorities, compliance issues, self-reporting and follow-on litigation. Maikel has a strong track record in contentious matters before the European and national courts.
According to Who’s Who Legal, Maikel is considered, “one of the most creative players in the field; if you need an out of the box-solution he’s the guy you want.”
He is a former board member of the Dutch Competition Lawyers Association and is an editor of a leading Dutch competition journal. He regularly publishes and speaks on a variety of EU competition law topics at conferences throughout the world.
