Madeleine Simonek is a full professor of Swiss and International Tax Law at the University of Zurich and of counsel in Schellenberg Wittmer's taxation group in Zurich. She has experience in all aspects of tax law, particularly corporate and international tax law. She specialises particularly in tax controversies and litigation in domestic and international matters, tax legal opinions and international tax planning.
Madeleine has authored several tax books and publications, mainly in the field of corporate taxation and international tax law. She is currently a board member of the European Association of Tax Law Professors and a member of the Federal Commission on Tax Harmonization within Switzerland. In addition, she is the academic head of the postgraduate LL.M. programme on international tax law at the University of Zurich. She regularly speaks at national and international congresses.
Madeleine was admitted to the Swiss Bar in 1989. She obtained a doctorate degree in law from the University of Bern in 1994. In 2004, she became a professor of tax law at the University of Luzern and in 2009 was appointed at the University of Zurich. Madeleine is also a Swiss-certified tax expert.
