Luisa Medina is an excellent and experienced practitioner who is renowned for her strong expertise in contentious aviation matters.
Luisa is one of the founding partners of Di Ciero Advogados, Brazil’s leading full-service aviation boutique. Since obtaining her law degree in 2002 from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Luisa has dedicated her career to serving the multiple needs of her international and domestic airline clients.
Her practice has given her profound insight into the many legal aspects of airline operations, covering everything from establishing new airlines in Brazil to the complex regulatory and tax environment, along with preventative legal work. In addition, her role as Brazilian legal representative for many airlines has given her the capacity to see all sides of complex issues, and the know-how to identify and resolve them promptly.
Luisa is regularly called upon to speak at industry events, such as the International Air Transport Association’s “Wings of Change” conference and events organised by the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association, where she shares her expertise on a vast range of industry issues, including passenger claims, tax exemption questions and employment law. She is often invited by her clients to give in-house talks and provide guidance, stressing the importance of knowing the law in order to avoid the costs of non-compliance. In order to keep up to date with current developments, Luisa also attends a many industry events.
Luisa is a member of the Brazilian Bar Association in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro; the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Brazil; and the Pan-American Institute of Civil Aviation.
She is also the finance director of the Brazilian Institute for Strategic Studies and Public Policies on Air Transport.
