Ludger is a partner at Ebner Stolz, which is a leading multidisciplinary practice in Germany (and a member of Nexia International) with more than 1,400 lawyers, auditors, and tax and management consultants.
Ludger heads the financial services legal practice at Ebner Stolz. He advises asset managers and investment management companies on all regulatory and corporate law aspects of formation, operational matters and marketing matters (domestic and cross-border) of all kinds of closed and open-ended public and private funds, with a focus on real asset-based funds such as real estate, private equity, transport and renewable energy, as well as debt funds. His practice also includes advising domestic and foreign institutional investors, such as insurance companies, pension funds and family offices on their investments in open or closed-ended funds. Furthermore, Ludger is a specialist in all regulatory aspects of the supervision of domestic management companies and custodians, including obtaining of a BaFin license, implementation of risk as well as compliance management systems, outsourcing and AML related issues. He advises foreign asset managers and management companies who wish to provide management services or market investment funds in Germany. Ludger also has considerable experience with contentious matters, including complex restructuring of distressed funds and litigating for asset managers, banks and financial intermediaries in class-actions.
Ludger joined Ebner Stolz in 2018. Prior to that, he was a partner with international UK/US law firms for more than fourteen years. Ludger studied law in Bayreuth (Dr jur) and Southampton (Master of Laws). He is a frequent speaker and author of leading commentaries and of numerous articles on German investment funds law.
