A partner at Kincaid Mendes Vianna Advogados, Mr Lucas Leite Marques has over 10 years’ experience in maritime, ports and infrastructure, insurance, and international law, with an emphasis on litigation and arbitration. He also practises in the areas of energy, oil and gas, and compliance.
Mr Marques is vice president of the maritime and transport law committee of the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA); former secretary of the commission of maritime and port law of the Brazilian Bar Association (Rio de Janeiro); director of maritime and port law at the Brazilian Centre of Mediation and Arbitration (CBMA); and professor of maritime law at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV/RJ). He is also a member of the Brazilian Association of Maritime Law (ABDM); the Ibero American Institute of Maritime Law (IIDM/BR); the International Bar Association (IBA); and the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB).
Mr Marques graduated in law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC/RJ). He holds an LLM in transnational commercial practice (CILS), a specialisation in maritime law from Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV/RJ) and a postgraduate degree in civil procedural law from Cândido Mendes University (UCAM/IAVM). He has been highlighted by international publications as a “Leading Lawyer” and a “Next Generation Lawyer”, and been recognised among a list of “up-and-coming individuals”. He speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish.
