Koon Huan Lim is praised for her "excellent grasp of the Malaysian market and its development". She handles a range of litigation and arbitration matters in the trade remedies space.
Lim Koon Huan graduated from the University of Melbourne with double degrees in commerce and LLB (Hons). She was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1995 and is a partner at Skrine.
She has experience in a wide range of civil litigation and arbitration work in the High Court, Court of Appeal and the Federal Court. Her core practice areas include commercial, corporate and banking disputes, competition law and compliance laws.
In addition, she heads the firm’s trade remedies practice group and co-heads the competition and compliance practice groups. She is a member of the ICC Malaysia corporate responsibility and anti-corruption working committee and the vice chair of the IPBA anti-corruption and rule of law committee.
Koon Huan leads the largest trade practice legal team in Malaysia, and has been at the forefront advising on manufacturers, trade associations, importers and exporters from both locally and from various other countries on international trade disputes cases as well as dealing with regulatory procedures.
She has extensive experience in anti-dumping and safeguards cases; having been involved in every single safeguards investigation commenced in Malaysia, in addition to numerous anti-dumping filings on steel products, chemicals, wood and paper products, building materials, synthetic yarn and BOPP films.
Notably, in 2016, she has also been involved in successfully resisting Malaysia’s judicial review proceedings of a trade remedies case in the High Court where the investigating authority’s preliminary determination to terminate the safeguard investigation on hot rolled coils imports was challenged by the petitioner.
