Keiko Shimizu is a partner at Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu. Her practice focuses on, among other areas, securities and financial services regulations; she advises asset management companies, securities brokers, banks and other financial institutions on corporate governance, regulatory and compliance matters. She also advises clients on complex regulatory issues and day-to-day compliance matters.
In addition, she advises on the formation, marketing and operation of various collective investment vehicles such as investment trusts, hedge funds, private equity funds and fund of funds. She has extensive experience in formation of various onshore and offshore fund vehicles. Her experience also includes representing institutional investors in their investment in onshore and offshore private funds and managed accounts across a range of asset classes.
She handles a variety of corporate transactions and general corporate affairs, and advises clients on data protection matters (including compliance with Personal Data Protection Act of Japan).
She earned an LLB from the University of Tokyo in 1996 and an LLM from Columbia Law School in 2003. She was admitted to practise in Japan in 1998, and worked at the New York office of Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP as a visiting attorney in 2003. She was a partner of Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu NY LLP from 2015 to March 2018.
