Karen is the joint leader of Addisons’ trademark practice, and is well known and respected in Australia and internationally for her intellectual property advice, particularly to businesses where the brand is the key to ongoing commercial success.
Karen advises some of the world’s best-known brand names, as well as iconic Australian brands. Her practice includes maintaining the integrity of her clients' trademarks, as well as advising on their trademark portfolios, intellectual property strategies and brand protection, piracy and infringement issues. She also deals with commercialisation issues including licensing and branding guidelines.
Additionally, she provides advice to her clients on every aspect of intellectual property which may affect their business, including piracy, customs, infringement, disputes and commercialisation. This can include advice relating to patents, trademarks, domain names, designs, copyright and confidential information.
Karen’s clients include Virgin Enterprises Limited (based in London), Formula One Management (located in the UK), Nintendo (based in Seattle) and Playboy Enterprises Limited(also based in the US). Many of her clients do not have a local legal team or commercial presence, so they turn to Karen to be their counsel on the ground in Australia to look out for their best interests.
