Julien Fouret is a Partner in the International Arbitration and Public International Law Practice of Eversheds Sutherland in Paris. He specializes in international arbitration, with a particular focus on investment arbitration and public international law.
Julien is also a former Counsel at the Secretariat of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and is currently a Vice-Chair of the IBA Arbitration Committee.
Julien has a wealth of experience in arbitration proceedings having served as counsel, chair, sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator notably under the rules of the ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL, DIAC, CAS/TAS, SCC, PCA, LCIA, CRCICA, CEPANI, DIA or CMAP. He has been involved in many complex arbitration cases mainly in Europe, the Middle-East and Africa, notably in the oil and gas, construction, telecom, sports and financial sectors.
A lecturer in law in several French Universities such as the University of Paris Ouest-Nanterre or the University of Paris Est-Créteil, Julien has written extensively on many aspects of arbitration law.
His publications include the recently critically acclaimed “The ICSID Convention, Regulations and Rules – A Practical Commentary” (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2019) which has been described as “an impressive piece of scholarship” and “anyone interested in this field will certainly want to add it to their library”. In 2021, Julien will publish the 2nd edition of his monograph entitled Enforcement of Investment Treaty Arbitration Awards (Globe Law). Finally, he is also the Editor-in-Chief of the ICC Dispute Resolution Bulletin.
Julien is fluent in French and English. He is a member of the Paris Bar.
