Juan José is a key corporate partner in Aguilar Castillo Love’s Honduras office. With more than 20 years of experience, , Juan José has an active practice across a number of areas including antitrust and competition, corporate and M&A, infrastructure, energy and natural resources, intellectual property and tax, including complex tax litigation. He co-heads the office’s corporate and tax practices. He is also certified arbitrator for the Conciliation and Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce.

He received his Licentiate in Law from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (Honor student) and his LL.M. from the Instituto de Empresa (IE Law), Madrid in 2006.

Juan José possesses in-depth expertise across corporate and M&A deals. He represents national, regional and international companies on commercial investments in Honduras - across a wide sector base. He also advises on local and multi-jurisdictional project finance operations for significant projects in the country, including renewable energy projects, ports and infrastructure, and real estate developments.

Juan José also maintains an active intellectual property practice, in which he advises clients principally across three areas – administrative work related to filings or and renewal of trademarks; advice on IP-related contracts (for example licensing, distribution, and franchise agreements); and IP litigation.

Juan José was counsel to Ormat International on a $124MM financing by OPIC of a 35MW geothermal plant: the first geothermal plant financing in Honduras in 2018; and has counseled multiple multinational and international financial institutions as well as project companies and developers for the financing of operations in renewable energy projects in Honduras and Central America.
