Ju Bong Jang is a partner at Lee & Ko and a member of the firm's data privacy and cybersecurity (DPC) and telecommunication, media and technology (TMT) practice groups. Mr Jang was admitted to the Korean Bar in 2001 and the New York Bar in 2010. Prior to joining Lee & Ko, Mr Jang practiced at Shin & Kim and Kim & Chang in the areas of DPC and TMT. He is a leading expert in the areas of data privacy; telecoms and broadcasting regulations; and IT. He also has extensive experience in representing domestic and global IT companies in major cases involving hacking incidents and personal data leaks. Mr Jang has been ranked by Chambers Asia.
Mr Jang has been at the forefront of many prominent data privacy cases, representing defendants in collective actions against alleged location tracking; and online service providers in criminal investigations and administrative sanction processes for personal data breaches. Mr Jang has been a government adviser on data privacy issues, and was part of the Korea Communication Commission’s advisory committee for data protection acts. He has also participated in many legislative processes, including the amendment of data privacy-related laws and location information-related law.
