John is an English qualified solicitor in Clyde & Co's dispute resolution team who trained, and has practised, with the firm in the Middle East since 2006. His solid track record and involvement in the successful outcome of numerous significant domestic, regional and international disputes throughout his career to date, including litigation and arbitration matters, is consistent with Clyde & Co's reputation as the premier tier international law firm for disputes in the United Arab Emirates which employs and develops top home-grown talent.
John's practice focuses on international commercial disputes, including professional negligence defence work for international audit and advisory firms; transport and logistics contracts in the defence sector; shareholder disputes; and commercial real estate matters. With his experience and understanding of both domestic and international litigation, John is able to assist his clients to navigate the disputes process in both common and civil law jurisdictions, including the Dubai International Financial Centre, and to provide advice which takes into account the practical realities and risks of doing business in, and out of, the region.
John originally completed the Bar Vocational Course and actively engages in advocacy on client-related matters, appearing before Tribunals in international arbitration matters on a regular basis. He regularly sits as an arbitrator, and is a member of the DIFC pro bono panel and an officer of the DIFC-LCIA Users' Council. He is currently serving a two-year term as ICC YAF regional representative.
