Biography

Dr Lancaster is managing director in charge of Driver Trett’s oil, gas and energy practice for APAC and heads up the global delay analysis function. Dr Lancaster has wide geographical experience that spans Europe, Africa, The Middle East, SE Asia, the US and Australia.

Dr Lancaster is based in Singapore where he practises as a delay analysis expert witness within the oil, gas and mining industries. He has extensive onshore and offshore oil and gas experience and has been appointed and has given evidence in relation to numerous arbitrations (ICC, SIAC, KLRCA, LCIA, SCMA etc) relating to matters with up to multi-billion dollar claimed value.

Dr Lancaster is a chartered mechanical engineer (registered in the UK, Australia, APEC and Europe) with over 36 years’ experience in design engineering, project management, project controls and delay analysis. He holds a master’s degree in engineering management and a doctorate in project schedule optimisation. He is a fellow of a number of professional institutions, is a practising fellow of the Academy of Experts and a member of the Expert Witness Institute.

Biography

Dr John Lancaster is a chartered mechanical engineer with over 36 years of experience spanning roles from a full mechanical apprenticeship, design engineering, project management, project controls, planning and general management. John now practises as a testifying expert witness in delay and disruption analysis.

John has extensive experience in oil and gas, including exploration drilling, offshore field development, onshore LNG facilities, LPG plants, refineries, petrochemical plants, onshore and offshore pipelines, storage facilities, semi-submersible FPS, jack-ups, FPSOs, FLNG, etc. He has represented governmental bodies, international and national oil companies, EPCM contractors, EPC contractors, and lower tier sub-contractors, in both formal and informal dispute resolution.

His sector experience also covers the mining and metallurgy process sector including: onshore and offshore diamond mining, platinum mining, ilmenite processing and smelting, coal processing, aluminium smelting, and steel production. In the power sector, John’s experience includes working on coal fired, co-generation, combined cycle and nuclear power stations.

John has been appointed as an expert witness in numerous jurisdictions and has extensive geographical experience, having lived and worked in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, North America and Australia. Claims in which he has been appointed have ranged in value up to US$3 billion in dispute.

John’s key areas of expertise include delay and disruption analysis, and schedule risk analysis, within the energy and mining sectors.
