Janey is a chartered quantity surveyor and has been involved in the construction industry for over 40 years. As managing director of Construction Dispute Resolution, she has extensive experience and is a recognised adjudicator, arbitrator and RICS-accredited expert witness with an impressive track record.
Janey specialises in issues of quantum in relation to construction claims for extension of time, and loss and expense; and the roles and liabilities of the design and construction team. She has wide experience in the variety of standard conditions of contract used in the industry. She has provided expert opinion reports on measurement; specification; valuation of construction projects’ extension of time; loss and expense; and professional negligence on a variety of complex building, engineering and renewable energy sector projects. Janey produces succinct reports to strict deadlines and has been cross-examined before various tribunals.
Janey has extensive experience in construction contracts, providing procurement and contract advice to employers, contractors and consultants.
Janey holds an LLM in construction law and is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). She is on the panel of Adjudicators for RICS, CIArb, RIBA, Scottish Building, CIOB, ClC, ConstructionAdjudicators.com and the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre.
Janey lectured at Glasgow Caledonian University in building contracts and construction law and continues to lecture and tutor on various professional bodies courses and conferences on dispute resolution topics. Janey is a past chair of RICS in Scotland (2007–2008) and has served on many dispute resolution professional boards and committees. She has been a director of the Scottish Arbitration Centre since March 2011.
