Jana Scharm is “a diligent and thorough arbitration practitioner” who is commended for her “smart and creative approach” as well as her “hands-on and pragmatic style”.
Jana Scharm is a partner and co-founder of Wiehe & Scharm, a leading dispute resolution boutique in Germany.
Jana has over 17 years of experience in handling complex arbitration and litigation cases and still enjoys every moment of it. She is fluent in English and German.
As an arbitration practitioner, she serves both as a counsel and as arbitrator to parties and clients around the world. Her relevant arbitration experience pertains in particular to contractual and commercial disputes, shareholders and M&A disputes as well as construction disputes. Jana has handled a considerable number of arbitration cases under a wide range of arbitral institution rules, including ICC, DIS, VIAC and UNUM, as well as ad hoc arbitration under the UNICITRAL Arbitration Rules.
Her enthusiasm for dispute resolution is well documented in the consistent course that her professional career has taken. Jana worked for many years in the dispute resolution department of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. During that time, she gained a Master of Laws (LLM) in comparative and international dispute resolution from the University of London (Queen Mary). Later on, she worked as a partner with Friedrich Korch Hanefeld, another dispute resolution boutique, before establishing her own practice in 2009.
Wiehe & Scharm provided her with the opportunity to combine the influential expertise of a leading international law firm with the flexibility and efficiency of a boutique practice. Wiehe & Scharm provides a great alternative to large full-service law firms. Clients benefit from excellent dispute resolution services, fewer conflicts of interest, and competitive prices.
