Jan Magne Langseth stands out among peers for his expansive knowledge of competition law and merger proceedings.
Jan Magne Langseth heads the competition law team at Simonsen Vogt Wiig in Oslo and has more than 20 years of experience in competition law. He has also worked as a legal officer for the EFTA Surveillance Authority in Brussels and has pleaded numerous cases before the Luxembourg courts. Merger control is a significant part of his current practice and he has been lead in many cases before the Norwegian Competition Authority in a large number of complex merger cases.
Jan graduated from law school at the time when Norway became a party to the EEA Agreement when the EU Competition rules became applicable in Norway. Because of studies abroad, and experience from Brussels, Jan soon started to work with competition law and was given the opportunity to head one of Norway's leading competition law practices. Since then, he has had the opportunity to work in this field for clients within a very wide range of industries. He now works for companies in the technology, media, telecoms, energy and transport sectors, often in cases that are critical to the clients' business and helping them make smart decisions.
Simonsen Vogt Wiig's highly acclaimed technology sector experience has given us experience in matters that are very complex in nature and the competition team's ability to interact with lawyers that are highly specialised within their fields is something that Simonsen believes gives them a competitive edge compared to more traditional firms. The firm's culture is built on being creative, flexible and always finding the best solution for the clients' business.
