Jaime Rodríguez is counsel in the competition and European law group of Allen & Overy Spain.
Jaime has significant experience in merger filings to the European Commission (EC) and the Spanish Competition Authority (CNMC), and also handles multi-jurisdictional filings to other competition authorities worldwide. He has provided merger control advice to clients such as Apax, Cepsa, Enagás, EQT, ICG, IIF, Mubadala, Naspers, Repsol, Santander and Talgo, among others.
Jaime also has substantial experience defending companies (including Accenture; Altadis, a subsidiary of Imperial Brands Group; Hanson Hispania, a subsidiary of HeidelbergCement; PwC; and Thales), as well as trade associations, in infringement proceedings for alleged anticompetitive practices. His practice also covers setting up competition law compliance programmes for Spanish and international clients, and advising large multinationals on state aid matters.
Jaime frequently litigates before the Spanish Courts in competition law appeals. He also has experience defending clients before the European Court of Justice of the General Court of the EU.
Jaime’s sectoral expertise includes IT, energy, infrastructure, construction, foodstuff, retail, medical devices and provision of professional services.
He has over 17 years of experience and since 2014 has been listed by relevant directories as among the top competition law practitioners in Spain.
