Every restructuring scenario is dynamic and unique with different legal, financial and operational challenges. I enjoy working with stakeholders to find bespoke and creative solutions.
HOW DO THE SKILLS YOU DEVELOPED WORKING ON RESTRUCTURING AND INSOLVENCY DISPUTES HELP YOU IN YOUR CURRENT ROLE?
My experience in private practice, specialising in restructuring and insolvency disputes, has been indispensable to my work at Madison. It has enabled me to develop a keen sense for business and legal risk management as well as crafting creative solutions for my clients.

SINGAPORE PASSED THE OMNIBUS BILL IN OCTOBER 2018. IN WHAT WAYS DO YOU EXPECT THIS REGULATORY CHANGE TO IMPACT THE MARKET?
The Bill greatly supports Singapore’s position as an international commercial, financial and business hub. Singapore will be viewed as an attractive jurisdiction for restructuring and insolvency experts advising their clients.
YOU ARE CURRENTLY ON THE BOARD OF THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S INSOLVENCY AND RESTRUCTURING CONFEDERATION (IWIRC). WHY ARE SUCH ORGANISATIONS SO IMPORTANT FOR PRACTITIONERS IN THIS PRACTICE AREA?
The IWIRC, as the premier advocacy group for women in restructuring, is extremely important for female and male practitioners alike, as our mission is to empower, connect and promote the success of women in the restructuring and insolvency profession globally. And the world needs empowered women!
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT TO DATE?
On a professional level, building the Madison Singapore office. It has been extremely satisfying to see our team grow from one in Singapore to now 10 strong and increasing.

Admitted in Hong Kong and England, Holly was formerly a litigation lawyer based in Hong Kong specialising in commercial, banking and insolvency litigation. With her prior litigation experience, Holly has headed enforcement proceedings and led inter-creditor and borrower negotiations to maximise recovery value. She also facilitates successful restructurings in complex distressed and workout scenarios.
Holly has been named as one of 20 rising stars in 2016 by Global Restructuring Review and one of 35 prominent female insolvency practitioners in 2017. She is also named as an expert adviser in Who’s Who Legal: Restructuring and Insolvency 2018.
