Biography

Hernán Pacheco is the managing partner of EY Law for Central America, Panama and the Dominican Republic, as well as director of its M&A and project finance practice groups.
His work is mainly in the area of local and international mergers and acquisitions, as well as joint ventures, corporate structuring and reorganisations, company rationalisation, corporate governance, estate planning, project finance, distribution, agency and franchises, foreign investment and civil and commercial contracts. Given his vast experience spanning more than 25 years in complex international transactions, he has advised local and international clients on the acquisition or sale of commercial and industrial groups with investments in Costa Rica, his home country, and abroad. Additionally, he is adviser of and has formed part of the board of directors of several national and regional companies. Hernán is also the trusted advisor to several of the most prominent family groups in Central America, which he has advised in regional and out of the region expansions and investments.
He holds a degree in law, cum laude probatus, from Universidad Autónoma de Centro América and a master's degree from the University of Hull in the UK. He also attended the PIL at Harvard Law School in 1992 and became a notary public in 1986.
