Heiko Heppner co-heads Dentons‘ German dispute resolution practice. Heiko has over 10 years' experience in litigating complex cross-border cases and has argued before numerous international arbitration tribunals and a range of trial and appellate courts in Germany and abroad. His practice focuses on international arbitration, both commercial and under investment treaties, and cross-border litigation. Heiko also sits as an arbitrator.
Heiko’s two full legal educations in Germany and the United States as well as his qualification as an English barrister offer clients a particular added value in matters that cross the common law/civil law divide.
Heiko is a distinguished professor at East China University of Political Sciences and Law, Shanghai, teaching international arbitration and investment law. In the past, Heiko was a professor of international arbitration law at Fuzhou University, China and lectured on common law at the University of Bonn, Germany for three years each.
Heiko is finally the president of the litigation think tank International Litigation Exchange eV (ILEX) and a member of various law associations, including the International Bar Association (IBA), the American Bar Association (ABA), the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), the German Bar Association (DAV), the German-American Lawyers Association (GALA) and a few others.
Before joining Dentons, Heiko was a counsel at a Magic Circle firm.
