Biography

Guy Elkington is a senior managing director at Ankura, based in Dubai. He is a chartered quantity surveyor with over 30 years’ experience in the international construction industry and has lived and worked in the United Kingdom, the Middle East and the Far East. Guy acts as an expert witness in construction arbitrations providing testimony on quantum issues. He also occasionally sits as an arbitrator on construction disputes. He has primarily been involved with FIDIC and ICE based civil engineering, rail, infrastructure and building contracts, and EPC and fabrication contracts relating to the oil and gas and power projects. He has provided financial and commercial advice on a broad range of projects to a variety of organisations in both the public and private sector.

Guy's primary involvement has been with FIDIC-based civil engineering, rail, infrastructure and building contracts, as well as EPC and fabrication contracts, both relating to oil and gas and power projects. Over the course of his career, his professional experience ranges from aviation, water and industrial experience to healthcare, commercial/residential property and marine experience.

Guy's experience in cost management and consultancy includes a particular emphasis on claims relating to the evaluation of quantum for delay and disruption and disputed change orders and variations; arbitrations and litigation support; expert witness evidence; and contract advice. His experience has been gained under most FIDIC/ICE-based forms including design and build contracts and bespoke forms of EPC contracts in a wide variety of jurisdictions. His overall areas of expertise include issues of quantum, the valuation of construction claims and variations, and commercial management.

Guy is a committee member, and founder member, of the Society of Construction Law (Gulf). He is also a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) as well as an associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
