Gustavo Tepedino is one of the founding partners of Gustavo Tepedino Advogados (GTA), a Brazilian boutique law firm established in 2006. With offices in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Brasília, GTA endeavours to offer its clients strategic guidance and expert advice in litigation, arbitration and legal consultancy services, particularly in civil, commercial and business matters.
Gustavo Tepedino has acted as arbitrator in nearly 120 arbitration proceedings, both domestic and international, under the rules of ICC, UNCITRAL and Brazilian chambers. In addition, he has extensive experience working as counsel and as expert witness in arbitration proceedings. Furthermore, Gustavo Tepedino has also distinguished himself in the field of ad hoc arbitration.
Professor Tepedino obtained his doctorate degree in civil law (Doctor of Juridical Science, SJD) from the University of Camerino. He is a full professor of private law at the School of Law of the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), where he also served as dean.
Professor Tepedino is a member of the scientific committee of the school of civil law at the University of Camerino; the International Academy of Comparative Law; the Henri Capitant Association; the Comparative Legislation Association; the Latin America Arbitration group of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC); and the ICC’s Brazilian committee. Tepedino was a visiting fellow of the Max-Plank Institute for Comparative and International Private Law and a visiting scholar of Stanford University. Currently, he is president of the Brazilian Civil Law Institute.
