Giulio Palermo is an arbitration specialist qualified in Switzerland, Italy and Spain. He is a partner at the Geneva office of Archipel, a dispute resolution boutique with offices in Geneva and Paris.
Over the past 10 years, Giulio has been involved in over thirty international arbitrations in English, Spanish, Italian and French. He mainly acts as counsel and also sits as an arbitrator, in matters including transnational sales contracts, shareholders’ agreements, agency, distribution and license agreements, joint ventures, post M&A disputes, construction and sport.
Giulio also advises clients on contractual matters, pre-arbitration assessments, negotiations, mediations and arbitration-related court proceedings (eg, set-aside proceedings and enforcement of foreign judgments and awards).
Giulio has published extensively on arbitration and is often called as speaker in seminars dealing with international dispute resolution. He is an active member of several professional associations, as well as the current president of the Italian chapter of the Spanish Arbitration Club; the Swiss national representative of the IBA young lawyers' committee; and a former co-chair of the Italian Forum for Arbitration and ADR.
Before joining Archipel, Giulio practised arbitration in Geneva with Lalive; in Madrid with Juan Fernández-Armesto; and in Paris with the ICC International Court of Arbitration. He initially trained with Barbera & Associati in Rome practising domestic and cross-border commercial litigation.
He holds an LL.M in international commercial arbitration from Stockholm University and an LLM in international business law from the Instituto de Empresa Law School in Madrid.
