Biography

George specialises in commercial disputes (both litigation and arbitration) with considerable experience of international disputes, having been involved in cases in a range of jurisdictions in recent years including the BVI (called in 2015), the Cayman Islands, Trinidad, Dubai, Oman, France, Hong Kong and Singapore. In addition to his work as an advocate he accepts appointments as arbitrator and is currently acting in LCIA and ICAC matters.

In the past 18 months George has acted in a number of important reported cases, led and unled, including in England and the BVI (including four appellate decisions). These matters include Dreymoor Fertilisers v Eurochem Trading [2018] and [2018] – anti-suit injunction and a jurisdiction challenge under ss. 32 and 67 Arbitration Act 1996; Euro Pools v RSA [2018], an insurance coverage dispute in the Commercial Court; Premier Motorauctions Ltd v PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP [2017], involving security for costs in the Court of Appeal; Towergate Financial v Clark & Others [2017], concerning construction of an SPA (under appeal); Dalecroft Ltd v Lloyds Underwriters [2017], an insurance coverage dispute; TJH and Sons Consultancy Limited v CPP Group Plc [2017], concerning construction of consultancy agreement; Adamovsky v Malitskiy and Filipenko [2017] BVI, an unfair prejudice petition; Wright v Lewis Silkin [2016], a claim arising out of Indian Premier League cricket.

George was on the executive committee of COMBAR from 2013 to 2016 and was chair of Junior COMBAR from 2011 to 2013. He is now on the executive committee of the PNBA.
