Biography

Fredrik Norburg is a founding partner of Norburg & Scherp, a specialist firm for dispute resolution, based in Stockholm, Sweden. Before setting up his own firm Fredrik Norburg worked with arbitration and litigation at law firms Mannheimer Swartling and Bird & Bird in 1999-2009.

Fredrik Norburg acts as counsel in Swedish and international arbitration proceedings under a variety of rules and applicable laws, and in commercial litigation before Swedish courts. He is also frequently appointed as an arbitrator (chairman, sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator) in Swedish and international arbitration. He has acted as counsel in several cases before the Swedish Supreme Court.

Fredrik Norburg’s experience includes matters concerning banking and finance, professional liability, construction, competition, intellectual property, M&A contracts, licensing, energy, insolvency, IT and telecoms, and corporate investigations. 

In 2003 he founded Young Arbitrators Sweden (YAS) at the SCC Institute, and from 2004 to 2012 he was the secretary and board member of the Swedish Arbitration Association. He is also a member of the Swedish Bar Association, the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, and other professional organisations. In 2016 the Swedish government appointed Fredrik Norburg an expert in a law revision committee concerning the recruitment of judges.

His training includes the 2008 Training Programme for Arbitrators arranged by the SCC and the Swedish Arbitration Association; the 2002 Academy of American and International Law in Dallas, USA; studies in German law at Mannheim University in 1998; and an LLM at Gothenburg University in 1994-1999.
