ABOUT THE FIRM
Peter & Kim was established in 2019 under the joint leadership of Dr Wolfgang Peter and Kap-You (Kevin) Kim. It is a specialist international commercial and investor-state arbitration practice with offices in Switzerland, South Korea, Singapore and Australia.
Peter & Kim represents clients through all stages of disputes – from initial advice on navigating the dispute resolution process through to pre-arbitration negotiations, dealing with interim measures of protection, drafting written submissions, advocacy at hearings, post-award challenges and asset recovery. The firm also acts in setting-aside and enforcement proceedings in multiple jurisdictions, especially before the Swiss Federal Tribunal (Supreme Court) and at all levels of the Korean court system.
Relying on the depth and diversity of its lawyers and the close cooperation between its offices, Peter & Kim can assemble bespoke teams combining different legal qualifications, languages and industry knowledge to meet the specific needs of its clients across continents and time zones.
GENEVA AND BERN OFFICES
The Geneva and Bern offices comprise 13 highly skilled lawyers, many dual-qualified, speaking English, German, French, Russian, Vietnamese, Greek, Italian and Romanian. Among other matters, the Swiss office is currently acting as the joint lead counsel for a seller in an ongoing ad hoc gas purchase dispute in the Middle East, with over US$30 billion in dispute; and as the joint lead counsel in a dispute worth US$1.8 billion, relating to a methane extraction project in Asia. Its recent successes include securing a US$1.2 billion award and defending it in a challenge proceeding before the Swiss Supreme Court.
SEOUL AND SYDNEY OFFICES
With more than 13 lawyers in Seoul and Sydney, and still growing, Peter & Kim has acted as counsel in an LCIA arbitration regarding a nuclear power plant in the Middle East; and as co-counsel in setting-aside proceedings in Australia and enforcement proceedings in Singapore concerning a SIAC award concerning a high-profile infrastructure project in Australia. Currently, lawyers from the Seoul and Sydney offices are acting in a US$2 billion ICC arbitration concerning a city-scaled real estate development dispute. The teams in Seoul and Sydney comprise both common law and civil law lawyers who can work in English, Korean, German and Japanese.
In April 2020, Peter & Kim opened its new Singapore office, consistent with its ambition of becoming a leading arbitration practice with a presence in one of the world’s prominent arbitration centres. The members of the Singapore office are fluent in Mandarin and English.
