Based in Madrid, Enrique is the Managing Director of J.S Held’s Construction Advisory Practice in Spain and Latin America and has over 17 years’ experience advising both project owners, main contractors and specialist subcontractors in relation to contracts and claims management, tendering and dispute resolution in construction and engineering projects.
He regularly acts as lead expert witness and provides oral testimony in arbitration cases in Europe, Latin America, Middle East and North Africa, under various rules of arbitration including ICC, ICSID and several other national institutions, both in English and Spanish.
Enrique’s expertise includes both the preparation and defence of claims on construction, engineering and major projects with respect to delay, disruption, acceleration and prolongation costs as well as additional works, contract termination scenarios and complex technical issues. His experience spans projects and sectors including power (conventional and renewable), mining, oil & gas and petrochemicals, residential developments, civil infrastructure, port terminals, high-speed rail and metro systems.
Enrique has a MSc in Industrial Engineering and a MBA (Hons) from INSEAD. Prior to working in a consultancy capacity, Enrique worked for a number of multinational organisations including in the fields of power and heat generation, industrial and process plants, infrastructure and transportation in both project management and senior managerial roles, in a number of different countries.
Enrique also lectures on Contract Management in different MSc programmes, is a frequent speaker in different international conferences (Spain, Chile, Netherlands, Peru, etc.) and has been listed as an international adjudicator by CCL in Peru.
