Emmanuel Kaufman is a partner at KNOETZL, a leading Austrian firm specialised in arbitration litigation, alternative dispute resolution, business crime and corporate crisis management.

Emmanuel acts as counsel and arbitrator. He has over 10 years' experience in high-value and complex construction, commercial and investment arbitrations in the CEE, SEE and Latin America. He has handled a vast number of arbitration cases under a wide range of the arbitral institutional rules, including ICC, ICSID and VIAC, as well as ad hoc arbitration under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.

He has successfully acted as counsel for national and multinational clients in complex arbitration proceedings concerning major business projects and construction contracts, as well as concession, joint venture, M&A and sales agreements in Europe and Latin America. His expertise spans various fields, including engineering and construction, international sales, IT outsourcing, energy, railways and telecommunications infrastructure. A special focus of his practice are construction disputes under FIDIC contracts as well as the quantification of damages in high-value disputes.

Emmanuel is admitted to practise as an attorney-at-law in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and holds a law degree from the University of Buenos Aires. He is currently the president of the German-Austrian chapter of the Spanish Arbitration Club (CEA), ICC YAF Representative for Europe and Russia (2019–2021) and a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR.
