Eileen Carroll QC is highly praised by sources. She "creates a dynamic that drives towards finding a solution" and "offers a degree of insight that few others can match".
One of the most sought-after mediators on CEDR's global panel of 175, Eileen brokers resolution and designs processes for complex multiparty, billion-pound disputes, in addition to chairing many complex meetings. She mediates in financial services; banking and insurance; IT and telecoms; public sector; property; employment; infrastructure; pensions; partnership, joint ventures; shareholders; media; music; trademarks and intellectual property. Her cases involve international commercial and public sector parties, including sovereign states. In the past year she worked with clients from jurisdictions in Africa, Australia, Europe, North and South America.
A litigation lawyer by background, Eileen was one of the first commercial mediators in Europe building her exceptional practice – described as "a founder of modern mediation". Eileen is co-founder of CEDR, in 2016 becoming its first principal mediator. In 2013 she was made Queen's Counsel honoris causa in recognition of outstanding work in mediation.
She enjoys working with businesses to find solutions early into the mediation. Clients observe her “very unique, dynamic and proactive approach to mediating”. She holds the Henley Management College coaching qualification, coaching executives on managing change in challenging environments.
Eileen is on several international panels, including CPR in New York, SIMC in Singapore, VIAC in Austria and CIETAC in China. A distinguished fellow of the International Academy of Mediators, she co-authored, with Dr Karl Mackie CBE, International Mediation: Breaking Business Deadlock (third edition).
One 2018 publication states Eileen is an “excellent mediator, very thoughtful and interested in the psychology of negotiation, [who] really works to understand each side’s perspective and identifies ways of looking at the dispute differently to cut through deadlock.”
