Ms Soewito heads SSEK’s highly regarded shipping practice and also has a thriving practice in foreign investment law, corporate and commercial law and real estate law. Leading legal directories recognise her as one of Indonesia’s top practitioners in the fields of energy and natural resources, shipping, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate.
Ms Soewito’s recent projects include acting for a London-headquartered offshore drilling contractor in the preparation of a loan agreement and other documents to finance the purchase of an oil drilling rig. She recently assisted the Indonesian subsidiary of a leading Italian multinational oil and gas industry contractor with the establishment of a joint venture company that would reflag, own and operate a drilling rig for offshore projects in Indonesia.
Ms Soewito advised a global provider of floating production services to the oil and gas industry in an US$870 million lease deal. She has assisted a European multinational in navigating foreign ownership restrictions under Indonesia’s shipping law and advised an Australian dredging marine company on the importation and reflagging of dredgers.
Ms Soewito is a graduate of the University of Indonesia Faculty of Law and was a visiting scholar at the University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall) School of Law.
