A founding partner of Brown&Page, a law firm specializing in dispute resolution, contract and commercial law, and public international law, Dominique Brown-Berset practices mainly in the field of international arbitration and international contract negotiation. She holds law degrees from Lausanne University Law School, Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and Harvard Law School.
Dominique is a current member of the Council of the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law, Lausanne; Vice-President of the Executive Committee of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration, Dallas (member of ITA diversity and inclusion study sub-committee); a member of the ICC Commission; of the Advisory Board of Global Arbitration Review and of the editorial Board of The Journal of International Arbitration (first editor of the Journal).
She is a former member (inter alia) of the LCIA Court of Arbitration (until 2020); of the board and council of the Swiss Society of Jurists; former co-chair of the Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association; former President of the executive board of ArbitralWomen; and former International Vice-President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
She has acted as counsel, co-counsel, arbitrator (also so le arbitrator and chairperson), legal expert and expert witness in over 230 international arbitration cases covering a broad range of international arbitration cases, in particular in cases involving states and international organizations, both at private and governmental levels, and also in cases relating, inter alia, to transfer of technology, construction of turnkey factories and other major construction projects (including airports), procurement contracts, licence agreements, agency, joint venture and shareholders’ agreements, sale and purchase contracts, telecom, post-M & A disputes and the like. Her industry experience includes telecommunications, computers (software and hardware), satellites, aviation, avionics, glass and paper production, steel, pharma, chemicals and petrochemicals, LNG projects, oil and gas (upstream, midstream and downstream), electricity and other energy sectors, mining, food, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, shipping and shipbuilding, intellectual property rights, luxury goods, textiles, arts, food and beverages, airport construction, real estate and other major construction projects, and sport arbitration.
She is on the panel of arbitrators of several institutions, such as the Court of Arbitration for Sport; the Asian International Arbitration Centre; Singapore International Arbitration Centre; Japan Commercial Arbitration; Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre.
Dominique has a particular interest and experience in early dispute negotiation / settlement tools and processes, in particular in relation to arbitration.
