Biography

Prof Dr Diana Correa teaches public international law, international contracts and international arbitration at University Externado of Colombia, and holds her solo practice as founding partner of Diana Correa International SAS, mostly acting as arbitrator. She is also a member of the panel of international arbitrators of AmCham Peru, the Chamber of Commerce of Lima and the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.

Even though Dr Correa’s experience is substantially wide, lately she has been focused on the construction, transport and the energy sectors. Prior to settling down in Bogotá, Dr Correa worked at Derains & Gharavi (Paris) and Dechert LLP (Paris) where she acted as Administrative Secretary, Assistant to Tribunals and Counsel in both, institutional (ICC, ICSID, PCA, and others) and ad-hoc (UNCITRAL) arbitrations related to commercial agency contracts, distribution contracts, infrastructure, energy, oil, telecommunications, transport, among others.

Thanks to her independence, her strong academic background, including two postgraduate studies in private and economic international law respectively, plus a PhD in public law at Paris II University, combined with her large practical experience of more than 15 years dealing with basic, multi-party and multi-contract arbitrations, Dr Correa may sit as arbitrator in any kind of dispute. Besides, Dr Correa is a specialist in the assessment of damages since 2004, when she undertook a postgraduate degree in Responsibility and Damages Law, which has provided her with great knowledge to understand better this complex part of any arbitration.

Dr Correa is fluent in Spanish, English and French, and has a basic understanding of Portuguese. She is frequently invited as speaker, member of special commissions, Professor, and specialist in the international arbitration field in many events. She also reports for Colombia in the GAR Know How in Commercial Arbitration and the Revue Générale de Droit International Public. For three consecutive years, Dr Correa has been selected as future leader in international arbitration by Who’s Who Legal and GAR.
