David is a founding partner in the San Francisco office of Berry Appleman & Leiden LLP. Over the years, David’s practice has encompassed every aspect of international corporate immigration. David currently focuses on working with human resources and global mobility professionals to optimise their companies’ worldwide immigration programmes. He guides strategies for forays into new countries, and provides immigration plans for international mergers and acquisitions. He helps companies address the worldwide challenges of global compliance, and has worked with major corporations to build out compliant visitor visa programs. David has served as chairperson of the Northern California American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the Bar Association of San Francisco immigration committee, as well as national Business and Industry Liaison to AILA. David has provided testimony to the United States commission to reform immigration. He has served as chairperson of the Immigration Forum of Worldwide Employee Relocation Council (WERC). David is a frequent speaker on immigration matters before AILA, the Society for Human Resource Management, WERC, the National Foreign Trade Council and other professional associations, corporations, and research institutions. David served as assistant professor of immigration law at Hastings College of Law, University of California, in an adjunct faculty position. He has published immigration articles on a panoply of immigration topics that include multinational transfers, mergers, layoffs, and exceptional merit visas. He has developed and overseen audits and trainings for international compliance. He advises companies in benchmarking for worldwide optimisation of best immigration practices.
