Daniel Schafer is a certified tax expert with experience in administration, contract and commercial law. He practices domestic and international taxation, with a special focus on corporate tax (including M&A, restructuring and relocation, private equity), Swiss VAT and real estate taxation. He also advises on tax related questions in connection with private clients (UHNWIs) as well as on real estate matters (transaction, structuring, acquisition). He is the hiring partner at Lenz & Staehelin Geneva and Lausanne.

Daniel Schafer graduated from the University of Fribourg (1996) and Hanover, Germany (1996). Following his admission to the Bar (1999), he obtained an LLM at Boston University (2001). He also obtained a diploma as a certified tax expert (2004). Daniel Schafer joined Lenz & Staehelin in 1999 and has been a partner since 2008. He speaks French, English and German.

Daniel Schafer is a member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA), the Swiss Bar Association (SAV), the Swiss Fiduciary Chamber and the Western Switzerland Association of Certified Tax Experts (OREF). He is also president of the Geneva section of OREF.
