Clemens von Zedtwitz is a partner at gbf Attorneys-at-law AG. He is specialising in insurance coverage litigation and arbitration and also advises national and international insurance and reinsurance companies in relation to regulatory issues.
Clemens von Zedtwitz focuses his practice on the resolution of large and complex claims from the London and international insurance market, and in the defence of claims against companies and their directors that are insured under all types of liability insurance policies.
He regularly advises and represents insurance and reinsurance companies and brokers in their engagement with the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA). This includes advice in relation to foreign insurance/reinsurance companies entering into the Swiss market, cross-border regulatory compliance, outsourcing, review of market conduct and advice on the distribution of insurance products and related regulatory issues.
Clemens von Zedtwitz holds a degree (Dr iur) from the University of St Gallen (thesis awarded with the Prix d'Excellence by the Swiss Society of Tort and Insurance Law) and a postgraduate degree (LLM) from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is also a Certified Specialist Swiss Bar Association (SBA) Tort and Insurance Law.
A frequent author and speaker on insurance-law topics, he currently lectures at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich in the field of contracts and torts and insurance law as well as at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW, CAS claims management and CAS regulation and risk management in the insurance industry).
