Claire Pratt is a principal and managing attorney of Jewell Stewart & Pratt PC, a nationally recognised immigration firm in San Francisco, California. Claire joined the firm in 2008 after serving from 2006 to 2007 as an attorney advisor for the San Francisco Immigration Court under the auspices of the US Department of Justice’s honours programme, the country's premier entry-level federal attorney recruitment programme.
Claire practises in all areas of US immigration law with a primary emphasis on US business and employment-related immigration. She is a certified specialist in immigration and nationality law by the State Bar of California board of legal specialisation. Recognised as a leader in the field, she speaks regularly at national and regional conferences and seminars.
Claire is the 2019–2020 immediate past chair of the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s Northern California chapter, a highly active, 1,000+ member chapter in which she has held elected office since 2015. She previously served for several years as the chapter’s liaison to the San Francisco field office of US Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Claire has been named among Northern California Super Lawyers every year since 2015. In 2010, she received the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Barrister of the Year award for her service as co-chair of the Barristers Immigration Section. Her pro bono service includes work with the South Texas Pro Bono Asylum Representation Project, Legal Services for Children, CLINIC’s BIA pro bono project, and volunteering as attorney of the day for children in Immigration Court.
Claire earned her BA from the University of Washington and her JD (highest honours) from Golden Gate University School of Law.
