Maria Christina Macasaet-Acaban is a partner, and the head of the corporate and commercial/M&A practice group, the healthcare and life sciences industry group, and the competition focus group, at Quisumbing Torres, a member firm of Baker & McKenzie International. She is a member of Baker & McKenzie International's Asia-Pacific healthcare and life sciences steering committee, the Asia-Pacific competition steering committee and the Asia-Pacific M&A steering committee. She has 21 years of experience advising and representing multinational corporations on domestic and cross-border transactions. She is cited as a leading individual in corporate and M&A by The Legal 500: Asia Pacific (2019-2020); and as a highly regarded lawyer in corporate and M&A by the IFLR1000: Financial and Corporate guide (2019-2020). She was also a finalist for the Woman Lawyer of the Year Award at the 2018 Asia Legal Business Philippine Awards. Maria Christina Macasaet-Acaban was recently recognised as a 2020 Who's Who Legal: Competition "Future Leader" for competition.

In the area of competition law, she advises clients in various industries on various aspects of Philippine competition laws, including merger control, horizontal arrangements, vertical arrangements, dominance, information exchange and enforcement. She has assisted clients in successfully obtaining merger clearance for their transactions. She also conducts trainings on competition law. She engages with the Philippine Competition Commission on Philippine competition law developments, and actively participates in public consultations regarding draft regulations. She participates as a speaker and panellist in various client and business forums on Philippine competition law.

Christina's practice also focuses on M&A, foreign investments and structuring, corporate reorganisations and restructuring, and regulatory compliance for a range of industries including healthcare and life sciences; technology, media and telecommunications; real estate; consumer goods and retail; and manufacturing.
