Carlyn Taylor is the global co-leader of the corporate finance and restructuring segment; leader of the business transformation practice; member of FTI Consulting’s global executive committee; the firm’s industry initiative leader; and chair of FTI Capital Advisors, the firm’s investment banking subsidiary. Ms Taylor has 29 years of experience leading hundreds of engagements involving strategy, business transformation, restructuring and transaction-related services.
In the M&A arena, Ms Taylor advises on all aspects of transactions involving both healthy and financially distressed targets for diverse client interests, ranging from buyers and sellers to financing sources and private equity investors. Ms Taylor has led more than 140 restructuring and bankruptcy engagements, advising debtors and creditors. She has also provided expert witness testimony in dozens of litigations, arbitrations and other cases involving lost revenue and profits, valuation and telecoms industry trends.
Prior to her appointment as global co-leader, Ms Taylor founded the firm’s TMT industry practice and served as its national leader. Over 20 years, she built a leading TMT industry consultancy, which is today a global team of over 120 professionals throughout the USA and the UK. Ms Taylor joined FTI Consulting with the acquisition of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ BRS group in 2002.
Ms Taylor holds a BS and an MA in economics from the University of Southern California, where she graduated as valedictorian. She is a certified public accountant in Colorado; accredited in business valuation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; a certified insolvency and restructuring adviser; a certified turnaround professional; and a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. She holds investment banking licences from, and is a registered general securities principal with, FINRA.
