Carlos Camacho wins praise for his sweeping knowledge of transport regulation and transactional matters.
Carlos heads the international trade; customs and transportation; government relations; and real estate practices. Carlos is well known for his knowledge of public-private partnerships for the development of infrastructure, with considerable experience working with the government in developing public works and transportation.
He works with multinational companies in setting up their businesses, including those seeking to enter special tax regimes. He has advised investors in such industries as aviation, retailing, medical equipment, manufacturing, telecommunications, infrastructure, real estate development and pharmaceuticals. Both he and his team have extensive experience in customs matters and have advised local and foreign companies on exporting and importing. He has participated in regulatory matters involving aviation, financing, leasing and commercial agreements.
Carlos has worked with companies with a global presence providing political support for developing new business opportunities or opposing laws or bills of law affecting certain industries. He has broad experience in the protection of foreign investment in Costa Rica under national law and international bilateral investment treaties, creating and executing action plans for defending investment and negotiating solutions with the
Carlos earned his master’s degree in Latin American and International Law (LLM) at the University of Texas at Austin in 2008. In 2007 he obtained a certificate in international business and corporate finance from New York University, and in 2004 he earned his law degree from the University of Costa Rica.
