Brad Murlick is a managing director in BDO's forensic insurance and recovery practice with significant experience advising domestic and global organisations on the preparation, negotiation, and settlement of claims associated with catastrophic or other triggering events. He works closely with policyholders to assist with timely and successful claims resolution, having facilitated billions of dollars in recoveries related to property and business interruption, product recall, fidelity and employee dishonesty, political risk, cyber and data breach, and construction and builder’s risk, among others. Brad's industry experience includes but is not limited to serving clients in the food and beverage, agribusiness, healthcare, financial services, natural resources, manufacturing and distribution, real estate, consumer and retail products, hospitality, and technology and life sciences sectors.
Experienced in claims related to losses from catastrophic events, Brad has worked on such matters as the terrorist attacks of September 11th and numerous engagements as a result of major hurricanes, flooding, wildfires, and other types of natural disasters. In addition, he assists clients in connection with product recall matters where he evaluates, prepares, and documents customer claims to be presented to liable third parties or insurance carriers. Brad also advises insurance brokerage clients in the defense of error and omission (E&O) matters involving property and casualty disputes and litigation. He has testified extensively both at arbitration and in court.
Brad has been quoted and published on insurance claims and business interruption topics in numerous leading national and industry publications, including Risk & Insurance, Risk & Compliance, Risk Management Magazine, John Liner Letter, ABA Section of Litigation, NPR, CNBC, and Summit TV (South Africa). He also speaks regularly at leading industry events. Brad has also consistently been recognised in Who’s Who Legal: Insurance & Reinsurance as an expert renowned for his capability advising clients on complex matters in the insurance claims industry. Prior to joining BDO, Brad spent more than 20 years as the practice leader of both Deloitte and Navigant’s insurance claim consulting practices.
