Bernard Vischer is a partner in Schellenberg Wittmer's Geneva office, where he heads the private clients group. Bernard advises private clients in private banking matters, trusts, estate planning and philanthropy. He especially advises entrepreneurs and families on governance, dispute prevention and succession in privately held/controlled businesses. He is a professional coach certified IDC. He also has extensive practical experience in corporate and transactional matters, with a focus on the shipping and aviation industries.

Bernard's recent expertise in private client matters includes: counsel to the main shareholder and chairman of a major family business in the setup of a charitable foundation to eventually hold a majority stake in the family business; counsel to a prominent foreign family in the restructuring of family holdings into a Swiss PFF; and counsel to a foreign ship-owner in the restructuring of his trust holding structure to allow him to relocate.

Bernard graduated from the School of Law of the University of Geneva in 1978 and was admitted to the Swiss Bar in 1980. He worked as a research and teaching assistant in the area of corporation and banking regulations at the University of Geneva from 1981 to 1983. He then obtained a `Master of Laws from the University of Pennsylvania. Bernard joined Schellenberg Wittmer in 1984 and has been a partner since 1990. He served as the firm's managing partner from 2002 to 2007.
